Overview
A Home Health Aide is a professional caregiver responsible for helping patients maintain their health and hygiene in their place of residence. Their duties include shopping for groceries and preparing meals, grooming patients, and handling basic logistics such as paying bills or scheduling appointments.
A Home Health Aide (HHA) provides direct care to patients in nursing homes, clinics, or extended-care facilities. HHA’s responsibilities include feeding and bathing patients and specimen collection. The HHA also participates in rehabilitation and therapy programs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
What Home Health and Personal Care Aides Do
Home health aides monitor the condition of people with disabilities or chronic illnesses and help them with daily living activities. They often help older adults who need assistance. Under the direction of a nurse or other healthcare practitioner, home health aides may be allowed to give a client medication or to check the client’s vital signs.
Home health aides typically do the following:
- Assist clients in their daily personal tasks, such as bathing or dressing
- Perform housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, washing dishes, and vacuuming
- Help to organize a client’s schedule and plan appointments
- Arrange transportation to doctors’ offices or other outings
- Shop for groceries and prepare meals to meet a client’s dietary specifications
- Keep clients engaged in their social networks and communities

Length of Curriculum: 91 Clock hours
The 75 clock hours of Home Health Aide consist of 50 hours Didactic, 31 hours Clinical Skill Lab, and 8 hours Clinical Internship.

Fees
Registration Fee:
A non-refundable Registration Fee of $100 was due during registration to reserve a seat.
Clinical/Lab Fee
Clinical/Lab Fee is used to cover the cost of Liability insurance policy and student lab operations and to provide students with Liability Insurance at clinical rotation internship sites.
Technology Fees:
Technology Fee provides students with Online Learning Resources, the learning management system, and the student portal.
Books:
Students are required to purchase all textbooks on their own. Textbook costs are estimated at $700.00. Required books can be purchased from the school bookstore or online at portal.mtiofnewyork.com/stores
Uniform
Students are required to purchase MTI logo scrubs on their own. MTI logo scrubs can be purchased from the school bookstore or online at portal.mtiofnewyork.com/stores.
Tuition:
Tuition for the Home Health Aide (HHA) is $500 and a total cost of $800 for the entire program, with tuition payments due as follows, and the non-tuition fees, are non-refundable once classes have begun (see Refund Policy below)

Schedule of Sessions
9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Morning Classes
The Morning program will be 4 hours per day Monday-Wednesday.
20 hours per week for approximately 4 weeks.
6:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Afternoon Classes
The Afternoon program will be 4 hours per day Monday-Friday.
20 hours per week for approximately 4 weeks.
