The Medical Assistant program at Medical Training Institute of New York is designed to prepare students to assist medical providers by performing basic clinical duties and administrative duties in doctor’s office, Clinics and/or medical center. The core curriculum covers a variety of subjects, including medical practice, medical law and ethics, medical communications, medical records, insurance, patient preparation, and basic laboratory procedures and tests. The courses are grouped around knowledge and skills required for administrative and clinical medical assisting. Students will study:

The 720 clock hours of the Medical Assistant consist of 340 hours of Didactic, 120 hours of Lab, and 260 Clinical Rotation Hours.

Pharmacy Technician I Entry Level

The Pharmacy Technician I Program at the Medical Training Institute of New York prepares students for entry-level roles assisting licensed pharmacists. The program covers pharmacy computing, medication preparation, inventory management, customer service, and pharmacy law.

The program includes:

Students will study topics such as over-the-counter drugs, pharmacology, pharmacy calculations, IV admixture, and advanced insurance billing. The program prepares students for the PTCB National Certification Exam and the New York State Pharmacy Technician License.

Pharmacy Technician IIIV Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician II Program at the Medical Training Institute of New York prepares students for entry-level roles as IV technicians, assisting licensed pharmacists in sterile compounding and intravenous (IV) preparation. The program covers medication preparation, patient records maintenance, IV cleanroom setup, and drug mixing with parenteral fluids:

The program includes:

Students will gain training in sterile compounding, aseptic techniques, IV compounding, Pyxis/Omnicell systems, and robotic prescription systems. The program prepares students for the PTCB Certification, ASHP Certification, Sterile Compounding Certification Exam, and New York State licensure/registration.

Advanced Pharmacy Technician IIIAdvanced

The Advanced Pharmacy Technician III Program at the Medical Training Institute of New York provides advanced training for pharmacy technicians, focusing on sterile compounding, IV preparation, chemotherapy compounding, and neonate/pediatric IV compounding. Students will gain expertise in aseptic techniques and pharmacy management under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

The program includes:

Students will learn to pull and fill medications for Pyxis/Omnicell machines, set up IV cleanrooms, label IV batch orders, and perform TPN compounding. The program also covers pharmacy IT, management, research roles, and supervisory skills.

The program prepares students for the PTCB Certification, Sterile Compounding Certification Exam, and New York State Pharmacy Technician License.

Pharmacy Sterile CompoundingAseptic Technique

The Medical Training Institute of New York offers specialized sterile compounding training for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, aligned with USP <797> and USP <800> standards. This program focuses on aseptic technique, intravenous (IV) compounding, and chemotherapy compounding, providing hands-on experience in a state-of-the-art cleanroom facility.

The program includes:

Key areas of training include TPN compounding, neonate/pediatric IV compounding, narcotics IV compounding, and home infusion. Students will gain core competencies in aseptic technique, IV batching, and cleanroom practices. The program prepares students for national certification exams, including Sterile Compounding Certification, PTCB, ASHP, and New York State Pharmacy Technician licensure.

Dental Assistant Certificate Program

The Dental Assistant program at the Medical Training Institute of New York provides students with the technical and practical training necessary to work as a dentist’s entry-level assistant. Medical Coding Specialist Coding

The Medical Coding Specialist Program at the Medical Training Institute of New York prepares students for careers in healthcare settings such as medical offices, hospitals, and clinics. The program covers a range of coding principles, reimbursement basics, and medical terminology.

Advanced Medical Coding Specialist & Auditing Advanced Coding & Auditing

The Advanced Medical Coding and Auditing program at the Medical Training Institute of New York builds on prior coding knowledge to focus on more complex topics. Students will apply CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes to a variety of medical reports, including procedures like pacemaker implantation, and perform audits to determine the correct E/M service levels.

Patient Care TechnicianPCT

The Patient Care Technician Program at the Medical Training Institute of New York prepares students to work in hospitals, assisted living, or long-term care under a licensed nurse’s supervision. Students gain skills in phlebotomy, EKG, and clinical lab techniques. Certified Nurse Assistants can complete only the EKG, Phlebotomy, and Clinical Lab components to earn certification.

Patient Care SpecialistPCS

The Patient Care Specialist Program at the Medical Training Institute of New York prepares students to assist medical providers with administrative and clinical duties in medical offices and centers. Students gain comprehensive training in dialysis, CNA, phlebotomy, and patient care techniques, qualifying them to work in hospitals, assisted living, or longterm care under licensed supervision.

Dialysis Technician

The Dialysis Technology program at the Medical Training Institute of New York provides students with the opportunity to study Hemodialysis. The program seeks to prepare students to work under the supervision of other medical professionals such as physicians and registered nurses. Students will study principles of dialysis, anatomy, and physiology of the kidney, fluid and electrolyte balance, hematologic aspects, infectious diseases, dialysis systems and equipment, and an overview of peritoneal dialysis and renal transplantation.
